The State government on Friday announced the transfer of Rajeev Ranjan, Chairman and Managing Director of TNEB Limited and Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) and Chairman of the Transmission Corporation (Transco), a day after thousands of micro and small units in Coimbatore downed their shutters protesting long hours of load shedding.

K. Gnanadesikan, an officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) belonging to the 1982 batch, has been named Mr. Ranjan’s successor. At present, he is holding the post of Principal Secretary (Revenue). This would be his second stint in the power sector as he was Chairman of the now-reorganised Tamil Nadu Electricity Board during May 2001-December 2003.

Mr Ranjan, who became CMD of the Tangedco and Transco in November last, has been made Principal Secretary (Revenue), according to an order issued by Chief Secretary Debendranath Sarangi.
