Special team to bring N. Murugan from Bengaluru to Tiruchi on transit warrant

The suspected mastermind in the Lalithaa Jewellery heist, N. Murugan, surrendered before a court in Bengaluru on Friday, a day after his relative P. Suresh, 28, surrendered before a court in Tiruvannamalai district.

Murugan’s surrender came at a time when special teams of the Tiruchi City Police were conducting inquiries with several persons to get information about his whereabouts over the last one week.

Murugan alias Siva alias Balamurugan of Seerathoppu in Tiruvarur district surrendered before the 11th A.C.M.M City Civil Court, a press release said.

City Police sources said a special team from Tiruchi would soon leave for Bengaluru to bring Murugan here.

A prisoners’ transit warrant would be obtained from a local court here and the same would be furnished in Bengaluru, the sources said.

The special team would take Murugan into their custody for questioning.

The details of the case and those pertaining to the remaining stolen property would be known only after questioning Murugan and Suresh, the sources said.
