Super-specialty hospital to be reviewed

June 26, 2011 11:47 pm | Updated 11:47 pm IST - SALEM:

State Minister for Minor Ports and Highways K. Palanisamy has said the State will review the Rs.140-crore super-specialty hospital project before making it fully operational.

Talking to the media here, the Minister said that he had discussed the issue with Health Minister and urged him to visit the hospital. “The project will be reviewed and later dedicated to the public after fulfilling all its needs.” He however did not disclose the date when the Health Minister would undertake such an inspection.

The sudden shifting of patients from its Trauma Care ward some two days back has led to speculations that it would be shelved by the government leading to widespread resentment among the public who are pinning their hopes on the hospital being promoted by both State and Central governments on the lines of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for treatment in the areas of cardiology, pulmonology and neurology.
