State topper aims at medicine

She has bagged several prizes in badminton at zonal level

The State first ranker in the Plus-Two examinations, S. Sushanthi, is keen on pursuing a degree in medicine and then to become an IAS officer.

“I want to serve the poor,” Sushanthi told The Hindu.

Daughter of P. Sivaprakash, a Physical Education Teacher at the Government High School in Kundarapalli near Krishnagiri, Sushanthi scored 1,193 out of 1200 marks, with centum in Physics, Biology and Mathematics, 199 in Chemistry, 198 in Tamil and 196 in English. Her mother is a home-maker.

She scored 481 out of 500 in SSLC. The family shifted to Uthangarai so that she could study at Sri Vidya Mandir Matriculation Higher Secondary School that has produced State toppers in the past.

Thanking her parents who put in everything possible to help her emerge as the State topper, she attributed her achievement to good and sustained coaching by teachers of all subjects.

An avid sports lover, she has bagged several prizes in badminton at the zonal level. Her younger brother, a class VIII student, is a national-level champion in badminton in the junior category. School correspondent R. Chandrasekar said this was the second time that the school produced a State topper. Balamurugan of the school was the topper with 1,184 marks in 2009.
