The State government should closely monitor organ transplant surgeries, BJP State president Tamilisai Soundararajan said here on Saturday.

Addressing the media, she said that it appeared as if the donors were usually from government hospitals, while beneficiaries were from private hospitals.

Her comments came in response to a question regarding the controversy surrounding the organ transplant surgery conducted on M. Natarajan, the husband of V.K. Sasikala.

Ms. Tamilisai also urged the State government to control the spread of dengue on a war footing, adding that the Centre stood ready to help.

“The State should act against quacks because they seem to be spreading faster than dengue,” she quipped.

She also called on the State to explore the possibility of including dengue in the list of diseases covered under the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme.

The BJP leader said that if the Central government were to shift its printing press from Periyanaickenpalayam, it would ensure that none lost their job.

She criticised the State government for breaching the protocol during the new Governor’s swearing-in ceremony, as was alleged by DMK leader M.K. Stalin, and sought a thorough probe into the walkie talkie scam.
