A team of private and government ENT surgeons offer treatment at Government Headquarters Hospital

The constitution of a special team of ENT surgeons and specialists at the Government Headquarters Hospital here has come as a boon for the patients who are in need of high-risk surgery and treatment under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Care Scheme. The team comprises six doctors: three private practitioners from Tiruchi led by T.N.Janakiraman and three doctors of the hospital. “The district accounts for a large number of patients with ENT complications. Although government doctors were handling the cases, the constitution of this dedicated team will go a long way in helping high-risk patients, according to T.K.Sivakumar, ENT specialist of the hospital. The team would perform surgeries on Fridays. Collector Darez Ahmed visited the first batch of six beneficiaries who underwent surgery at the hospital on Friday.

Lack of a dedicated parking lot in Thuraiyur has been posing great hardship to the residents of the town. A large number of vehicles, particularly two-wheelers, could be seen parked on the Big Street at any time of the day and this causes hindrance to the free flow of traffic. The problem becomes acute during evenings and strict measures must be taken to regulate parking, residents said. The little space available on the cramped roads is utilised by the shopkeepers, crowding out the space for traffic, they said. A similar problem has been haunting Pudukottai town, particularly in front of the new bus stand. The problem gets compounded due to parking of two-wheelers and four-wheelers in front of hotels and restaurants. However, the traffic police personnel, who monitor the flow of traffic from a watch tower, keeps addressing car drivers and two-wheeler riders not to hinder the flow of traffic through a public address system.
