In order to clear extra rush of pilgrims on account of ‘Vaikaasi Visaakam' festival at Tiruchendur, the following special trains will be operated on Sunday (June 3).
According to Senior Public Relations Officer, Southern Railway, Madurai Division, N. Venugopal, Tiruchendur - Tirunelveli passenger special train No. 1 will leave Tiruchendur at 9.30 a.m. to reach Tirunelveli at 11 a.m. Tiruchendur - Tirunelveli passenger special train No. 2 will leave Tiruchendur at 12.15 p.m. to reach Tirunelveli at 1.45 p.m.
In the return direction, Tirunelveli - Tiruchendur passenger special train No.1 will leave Tirunelveli at 12 noon to reach Tiruchendur at 1.30 p.m. Tirunelveli - Tiruchendur passenger special train No. 2 will leave Tirunelveli at 2.15 p.m. to reach Tiruchendur at 3.45 p.m.

The special trains will stop at all the stations between Tiruchendurand Tirunelveli, Mr. Venugopal said.

Arrangements are in place ahead of the Vaikasi Vishakam festival at Subramaniya Swamy Temple, the second abode of Lord Murugan, in Tiruchendur.

The district Administration has made necessary arrangements for the devotees who are expected to visit the temple in large numbers to offer prayers on Sunday. Drinking water and other basic facilities have been made available.
To increase surveillance, closed circuit televisions (CCTV) have been installed at important locations to monitor crowd movement. Around 800 police personnel had been deployed in the vicinity of the temple to provide security. Watch towers had also been erected to watch the devotees from a vantage location, said Additional Superintendent of Police N. Swami Durai Velu here on Saturday.
Besides, Marine Police have been deputed to enhance the security. Fire tenders are also in place to tackle any situation arising out of exigency. Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation has also planned additional bus services to various destinations from Tiruchendur. Moreover, healthcare professionals have camped on the temple premises to cater to medical emergencies.
