A gang hacked to death the Thanjavur district deputy secretary of the Samathuva Makkal Katchi here on Tuesday.
Police said the gang pounced on M. Paramasivam (38) when he was chatting up with friends outside his house at Kakkan Colony here late in the evening and attacked him with deadly weapons inflicting severe injuries all over his body.
Paramasivam was rushed to the Kumbakonam GH where the doctors declared him brought dead.

The Kumbakonam East Police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the gang that killed theSMK office-bearer in the past.
