Sivakasi fire accident: Toll goes up to four

Death toll in Saturday’s fire accident at a cracker unit at Viswanatham went up to four with the death of three more workers on Monday.

The police said that P. Pappa (35), P. Andal (55) and M. Subbulakshmi (57) succumbed to injuries at the Government hospital here on Monday. Kannan (42) had died at the same hospital on Sunday night. The condition of two others Ganesan and P. Avudaiyammal (55) continued to be critical, the police said. 

Two more injured employees are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Madurai.

The workers were injured in an accidental fire while cutting fuses at the unit. The Sivakasi Town police have arrested two employees in this connection.
