“For the first time, we have secured the first rank in overall pass percentage at the State level and we are happy about this,” said Collector G. Latha. She congratulated the Chief Educational Officer, District Educational Officers, heads and teachers of all schools and students and exhorted them to maintain the winning streak.

Collector S. Natarajan said the district would focus on weak areas and bounce back next year. He said the only solace was that the district secured the second rank at the State level in the overall pass percentage in government schools. Among the government schools, the district stood second with an overall pass percentage of 97.68, he said.

A total of 17,265 students, including 8,692 girls from 251 schools, appeared for the examinations and 16,910 of them passed. As usual, girls outshone boys, recording a pass percentage of 98.93 in the district. He said 156 schools, including 77 government and 20 aided schools, recorded 100% pass.
