Sexual harassment alleged by teacher

P. Pandi Selvi (25), a secondary grade teacher working in Pethasigaralapalli Panchayat Union Middle School in Shoolagiri block has alleged sexual harassment by B. Harikeshav Rao, Additional Assistant Educational Officer.

Initially, her complaint was referred to the District Police by the Collector V. Arun Roy and later referred to the Complaints Committee constituted by him on Saturday.

Mr. Roy told

The Hindu that the Complaints Committee was headed by the Additional Collector G. Luxmi Priya. The members were, the Guidance Bureau Officer attached with the Social Welfare Department, the District Elementary Education Officer and a woman representative from NGO.

Earlier, K. Agoram, District Secretary, Tamil Nadu Government Employees Association (TNGEA) submitted a memorandum to the Collector demanding the district administration to constitute a Complaints Committee to probe complaints of sexual torture on women employees.
