Seven surrender in ‘Pottu’ Suresh murder case

Natham Judicial Court Magistrate remanded them in judicial custody

Seven persons surrendered before a court at Natham in Dindigul district on Saturday in the case relating to the murder of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam functionary N. Suresh Babu alias ‘Pottu’ Suresh in Madurai.

Those who surrendered were: Saba alias P. Sabarathinam (25), M. Santhanam (21), Raja alias N. Nagamurugan (25), S. Lingam (24), A. Senthil (24), M. Sekar (24) and R. Karthik (24), all belonging to Keerathurai in Madurai city.

Natham Judicial Court Magistrate V. Anandan remanded them in judicial custody for three days. He directed the police to produce them before Judicial Magistrate Court IV in Madurai on February 4. Amid tight security, they were sent to Salem prison. In a petition, the surrendered persons informed the court that the Subramaniapuram police in Madurai City were in search of them in cases under IPC Sections 341, 147, 148, 341, 427 and 302.

‘Pottu’ Suresh, a confidant of Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, M.K. Alagiri, and DMK executive committee member, was murdered by an unidentified gang on Thursday, about 200 metres away from the Minister’s residence in Madurai.
