Seven autos seized

The Transport Department officials seized seven autorickshaws which were plying without fitness certificate.

The office of the Regional Transport Officer here received complaints from the public about the plying of autorickshaws as share autos without permits and also without fixing meters.

On the direction of Velusamy, Deputy Transport Commissioner in-charge, a team of officials of the Transport Department led by V. Jayagowri, Regional Transport Officer, Salem East, and the city traffic police, conducted surprise check of autos in Salem town limits.

Fine

Six autos were booked for plying without meters and twelve auto drivers for not possessing the driving licence. A spot fine of Rs. 12,000 was slapped on them and collected.

Seven autos were booked for plying without fitness certificate and the officials seized all the vehicles. They were taken to the office of the RTO, Salem East, at Udaiyarpatti.
