Search for robbers continue in Yercaud hills

Suspecting that persons involved in robbing 350 sovereign gold jewellery and cash Rs. 4.5 lakh from a house at Poosaripatti could be hiding in Yercaud, the rural police have intensified their hunt in the hills on Friday.

A team led by Rural DSP M. Chandrasekaran carried out checks in all lodges in the hill station besides vehicle checks at entry and exit point to the hill station at five places in Yercaud.

All the criminals, ex-convicts were under the scanner and details of all vehicles entering and leaving Yercaud were also registered. Of the three mobile phones the five-member gang took from the house on Thursday, they have used one phone. The police tracked the calls and the mobile network that found usage in Yercaud. The gang on Thursday tied the couple and decamped with jewellery and cash from their house, attached to their pawnshop, in broad daylight.
