K. Selvam, younger brother of Sasi Perumal, told The Hindu that the family of late Gandhian expected the government to make announcement on introduction of total prohibition in the State in the current Assembly session. But, so far the government has not made any announcement.

S. Vivek, the elder son of Sasi Perumal, observed a token fast in the village on Independence Day. This was followed by a day-long fast by family of Sasi Perumal in his native village on August 24, the opening day of the Assembly session to draw the attention of the government.
