Samacheer Kalvi: State to seek legal opinion

The State Education Department is contemplating the next course of action in the wake of Madras High Court staying the operation of an amendment to the Tamil Nadu Uniform System of School Education Act, which has sought to defer the implementation of the Equitable Standard Education.

On Saturday, School Education Minister C.Ve. Shamugam was in New Delhi along with his officials to seek opinion from legal experts. Sources indicate that no decision has been taken whether to move the Supreme Court for appeal. Department sources also said at the moment, there was no change in the date on which schools would reopen. All government, government-aided and matriculation schools would reopen on June 15, a senior official said.
