Sale of applications for MBBS/BDS seats begins

The sale of applications for MBBS/BDS seats to government colleges in the State began on Monday morning. A total of 8,934 applications were sold on the first day, according to officials in the Selection Committee, Director of Medical Education. The total number of applications sold in Chennai is 2202, in Madurai, 1060 and Coimbatore, 989. The total number of applications sold on the first day last year was 6,455, according to official sources.

The applications will be sold until June 2, even on holidays between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. On June 2, the counters will be open until 3 p.m. only. Counters have been opened in all the government medical colleges, and the dental college, official sources added. The cost of each application form is Rs. 500.

Students must give a requisition addressed to the Dean/principal of the medical/dental college, enclosing a crossed Demand Draft from any nationalised bank, dated not earlier than May 14, in favour of “The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai – 10.” Applications will be issued free to SC/SC(Arunthathiyar)/ST candidates, provided they enclose attested photocopies of the community certificate.
