Rs. 22.41 crore development works in progress in Kolli Hills

Development works to the tune of Rs. 22.41 crore are in progress in Kolli Hills.

In the education front, a model school and a girl’s hostel are being constructed at a cost of Rs. 3.94 crore and Rs. 2.66 crore respectively in Valavandi Nadu in Kolli Hills.

Under the Centrally-sponsored Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan Scheme, the Public Works Department has undertaken the work of constructing the school that is expected to be completed in three months.

Also, the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation that is entrusted with the task of constructing the girl’s hostel is expected to complete the work in two months.

At present, the students of these schools are accommodated in classrooms in the Government Tribal Residential School in the area.

The Rural Development Department is constructing a new office building for the Kolli Hills Panchayat at a cost of Rs. 1.99 crore and a new bus stand in Sengarai at a cost of Rs. 1.27 crore.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, tar roads are being laid at a cost of Rs. 2.66 crore in Puliyampatti.

A total of 1,244 works are being carried out at a cost of Rs. 22.41 crore for the welfare of the people in Kolli Hills for the year 2014-15.

Officials said that in three years, a total of 1,242 works were carried out at a total cost of Rs. 77.92 crore.

Efforts were on to fulfil their basic amenities, besides improving road connectivity.

Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy, who recently inspected the works, asked the officials to expedite and complete the works as per schedule.
