RPF Inspector booked for missing of 30 kg ganja

The Kottar police here on Tuesday registered a case against Nagercoil Railway Protection Force (RPF) Inspector Selvaraj (52) in connection with 30 kg of ganja going missing from the RPF custody in Nagercoil.

According to police sources, the RPF personnel seized the narcotic substance left on Shalimar Express train at Nagercoil junction railway station on July 19.

The contraband was kept under their custody. However, during the course of investigation, it went missing.

The RPF officials conducted an inquiry, and the Junction Railway Police registered an FIR against Inspector Selvaraj on August 20, and he was placed under suspension.

Later, he applied for anticipatory bail and was granted bail on condition that he should appear before the RPF Junction Railway Police Station at Kottar every day.

Meanwhile, the Railway Police completed preliminary investigation and transferred the case to the District Police.

The Kottar police registered a case under Section 409 (Criminal breach of trust by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code against the Inspector.
