People gathered at the Tiruvannamalai taluk office on Saturday to take photographs for Aadhaar card.

Unusually huge crowd gathered in the Tiruvannamalai taluk office on Saturday demanding tokens for Aadhaar registration.

In the order of tokens distributed the registration of details and photographing are done in taluk office. Though officials orally asked some of the people who approached the office for Aadhaar registration to come on Saturday for getting tokens, a strange rumour spread like wild fire. It made people believe that Saturday was the last date for distribution of token.

People from far-flung villages gathered inside the taluk office.

Officials started distributing tokens but they had to stop the distribution due to the surging crowd.

Officials said that they had distributed nearly 1,000 tokens on Saturday alone.

As the distribution stopped the crowd turned restive and barged into the adjoining highway. They wanted officials to provide more computers and sufficient arrangements.

Officials then, pacified them and assured them to distribute tokens at firka level instead of taluk level. Officials confirmed this saying people need not henceforth come to the taluk office to collect tokens and they may avail the same from the Revenue Inspector of their concerned firka.
