Repair road immediately

The Chennai Corporation and Southern Railway have been passing the buck when they are asked to address the pathetic condition of the road surface on the overbridge at Loco Works/Ayanavaram. The road is replete with potholes and it is very dangerous in the night as the streetlights are defunct. I request the authorities to act immediately.

Lay speed breakers

The stretch between Kovilambakkam–Nanmangalam via Vellakal to Medavakam Koot Road on Medavakkam Main Road lacks a median, a pedestrian path and proper lighting. It also narrows down with curved bends on both sides and two-wheelers and pedestrians face a tough time. Will the authorities concerned lay speed breakers on the above stretch in the interest of the safety of road users?

Ensure pedestrian safety

It is extremely difficult for pedestrians to cross the road on North Usman Road at T. Nagar between the Mahalingapuram flyover end to Bazullah Road crossing. Vehicles, buses and heavy vehicles from Nungambakkam and Valluvar Kottam move very fast as there are no traffic signals or speed breakers. If one or two speed breakers are laid in this stretch, it will be safe for the pedestrians to cross the road.

Expedite pipe-laying work

We are living on Velachery Main Road opposite the police station. The road is in a very bad condition between the Velachery substation and Rajalakshmi Nagar Junction. Pipe-laying work that started a long time ago on the entire Velachery Main Road has been progressing at a very slow pace. The plight of the stretch , which is a bus route, is worst during rain. request the authorities to expedite the work.

Commuter woes

The ‘comfortable’ buses that ply the city roads are not commuter-friendly. People find it difficult to stand as they have lesser space than ordinary buses and conductors find it a laborious task to issue tickets in the cramped space. Women are the worst hit as they find it difficult to manage bags and young children. No Minister or MLA travel by crowded buses to identify the difficulties of passengers and conductors. It is better to reintroduce stand conductors in several bus stands such as T. Nagar, Mylapore Tank, Triplicane and Mandaveli. Women and the elderly must be provided special buses and more buses have to be introduced on some routes — like 21G at Mylapore Tank and 60 at Pammal where people wait for hours. . Such routes need shuttle services to serve the needy.
