Ration card camp

A special camp to make changes in ration cards for residents in Musiri taluk drew an overwhelming response on Saturday with over 7,000 people thronging the camp held at the Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Musiri, to carry out changes in their cards. The district administration is conducting such camps at taluk level of the district and had announced that all petitions relating to ration cards would be redressed at the camp. Residents of the respective taluks can apply for inclusion of names, deletions, corrections in names, and changes in addresses in the ration cards during the camp.

On Saturday, 7,002 petitions were received at the camp from cardholders in Musiri taluk. A majority of the applications, accounting for 2,451 sought inclusion of names in the ration cards and 1,965 applications were for deletions. About 771 applications were for corrections in names and another 1,324 were for correction in address. Orders for the corrections were issued during the camp, an official release said.
