Flash flood in Nallathangal Odai

A flash flood in Nallathangal Odai washed away a portion of ground-level bridge, snapping road connectivity to many villages and inundated several acres of agriculture fields at Ramapattinampudur village in Oddanchatram block.

The right side bund of the stream was washed away and agriculture fields were submerged in floodwater. The bridge was constructed across the stream under Nammaku Naame Scheme in Sindhalavadanpatti panchayat. (Nallthangal Odai recorded a rainfall of 234 mm on May 14.)

Collector T.N. Hariharan, who inspected the spot on Sunday, asked revenue officials to undertake repair work immediately and block the breach near the bridge to prevent further damage to agriculture fields.
