Quiz for college students to improve knowledge of polling

The Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) of Sivaganga, who is the Election Officer for Sivaganga Assembly constituency, conducted a quiz programme for college students as part of SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) activities implemented to achieve 100 per cent polling in the May 16 Assembly elections.

More than 60 college students, who were enrolled for the programme, were screened after a written test to form five groups as Kurinji, Mullai, Marutham, Neithal and Palai and the core of the quiz programme focussed on history of free and fair elections in the country.

The first three places were selected after four rounds of the quiz programme held here on Wednesday.

District Revenue Officer (DRO) Ilango presented books, certificates and shields to the winners, Mr. Aravindan, RDO, Sivaganga said. Sivaganga Tahsildar Naganathan had made arrangements for the programme, he also said.

Pledge administered

Later, the election officials administered pledge to the students to cast their votes without fail. They also exhorted them to bring in all eligible voters to the polling stations and ensure 100 per cent polling.
