The Mailam police on Friday arrested two persons – N. Veerappan, a physical training teacher of a private school in Chennai, and Sridhar (29), a Puducherry policeman – on the charges of assaulting youngsters and abducting a girl.
Police sources said when Inspector Karunakaran was on his regular rounds at Pathirapuliyur he spotted the two persons taking a 17-year-old girl on a motorcycle.
He intercepted the two-wheeler and caught them. During enquiry it came to light that the girl was a Plus Two student in a residential school at Vanur.

While she was with her lover, the duo waylaid them and beat up the boy. Later, they took her on their motorcycle with an intention to outrage her modesty. Further investigations are on.
