The BJP on Friday urged investigators not to prematurely rule out any angles to the ongoing investigation into the murder of its State general secretary V. Ramesh.
On Friday, its spokesman Prakash Javadekar addressed the media, after leading a three-member committee constituted by party national president Rajnath Singh (Karnataka MP Anant Kumar Hegde and national spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman were other members) that met with government officials at the State Secretariat.
They apprised them of their findings during their spot visit to Salem where Mr. Ramesh was murdered.

“This is not an isolated incident. We see a pattern in the manner in which BJP leaders are being targeted across the country,” Mr. Javadekar said.
“There is a clear case of possible fundamentalist angle to it. The investigating agencies must not foreclose any motives at this stage.”
When a reporter brought to their notice the State DGP’s statement ruling out communal angle to some of the murder, Mr. Javadekar and Ms. Nirmala said the party disapproved of such pre-emptive statements when the case was still being investigated.

To a more pointed question on whether the party would take up the issue in Parliament, they said the party high command would take a call on that.
