Polytechnic student held for stealing petrol

A polytechnic student has been arrested for siphoning off petrol from two-wheelers parked in the parking bay of Vaeinthaankulam new bus-stand.

When a few office-goers, on entering the Vaeinthaankulam new bus-stand’s parking area on Tuesday morning to park their bikes, found a youth stealing petrol from the two-wheelers already parked there.

When they alerted the security personnel, the guards nabbed the youth, who was later identified as P. Vasanthan (22), a third-year mechanical engineering student from Tirunelveli Town.

As Vasanthan, wearing gold chain and a ring, was handed over to the police on duty at the bus terminus, the law-enforcers recovered 5 litres of petrol, a silk saree and a smart phone from him.

Melapalayam police have registered a case.
