Police launch search for killer gang

Police are on the look out for a four-member gang that hacked to death an advocate near here on Friday night.

Police said that Raja (32) of Melamarudakudi near Aduthurai in Thanjavur district and brother of the PMK State vice-president Stalin was done to death at Sannapuram level-crossing near here by a four-member gang who came by a car and after committing the crime escaped in the same vehicle. Raja, an advocate who was practising in the Madras High Court, died of injuries on the spot, while his friend Balamuruganwas severely injured.

On hearing the news, Raja’s relatives and PMK party men resorted to a road roko on the Kumbakonam-Mayiladuthurai Highway.

Superintendents of Police K. Dharmarajan (Thanjavur), Jeyachandran (Tiruvarur), and Abhinav Kumar (Nagapattinam) rushed to the spot.
