Police buildings inaugurated

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Friday inaugurated, through videoconferencing, police stations, quarters for police personnel and various other buildings for the Police Department constructed by the Police Housing Corporation in various parts of the State.

According to an official release, these buildings were constructed at a cost of Rs.76.85 crore. They include 18 police stations (Rs.7.27 crore), two all-women police stations (Rs.52.65 lakh),1,016 quarters for police personnel (Rs.65.2 crore) and other buildings (Rs.3.84 crore).

The Chief Minister also declared open three police stations in the city (Taramani, Kanathur and Koyambedu suburban bus stand) and traffic police stations at Valasaravakkam and Semmancheri built at a total cost of Rs.12.5 crore. R. Rajagopal, Principal Secretary (Home), K. Ramanujam, DGP (L&O), and L.K. Tripathy, Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai, attended.
