PM, other leaders greet Jayalalithaa

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and a host of other leaders including Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday greeted Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on her 65th birthday.

Dr. Singh spoke to her over telephone. Governor K. Rosaiah sent a bouquet and also greeted her over phone.

Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, CPI national secretary D. Raja, CPI State secretary D. Pandian, CPI(M) State secretary G. Ramakrishnan and Thuglak Editor ‘Cho’ S. Ramaswamy expressed their greetings over the phone. Actors including Rajinikanth sent bouquets.

As part of the birthday celebrations, the AIADMK presidium chairman, E. Madhusudhanan hoisted the party flag at the party headquarters. Organising secretary and chairperson of the Tamil Nadu State Commission for Women Vishalakshi Nedunchezhiyan handed over the first copy of a souvenir to Transport Minister V. Senthil Balaji. A cake was cut by Electricity Minister Natham R.Viswanathan in the presence of several leaders including Finance Minister O.Panneerselvam and Parliamentary party leader M. Thambidurai. Party members also conducted mass-feeding and blood donation camps.
