Plea to expedite housing scheme

The Vellore District Conference of the Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of All Type of Differently Abled and Care Givers (TARATDAC) held here on Friday has appealed to the state government to expedite the work on the construction of apartments for the visually challenged on the 1.66-acre land allotted for the purpose in Ammundi village in Katpadi taluk.

The conference demanded abolition of the rigid rules for enabling the differently abled to get their identity certificates, restoration of financial assistance along with arrears, increase in monthly allowance, filling of vacancies in government jobs, allotment of funds from MPs and MLAs funds and construction of toilets for the differently abled in all bus stands.

D. Ezhumalai was elected district president, S. Sriram district secretary and Murugesan district treasurer of the TARATDAC.
