Pioneer in HIV/AIDS treatment dies

Suniti Solomon is credited with documenting the first evidence of HIV infection in India 1986 when she was working as a professor of microbiology.

Suniti Solomon, founder of YR Gaitonde Centre for AIDS Research and Education died here on Tuesday morning. 

Dr. Suniti is credited with documenting the first evidence of HIV infection in India 1986 when she was working as professor of microbiology at the Madras Medical College. 

Her body will be interred at the Kilpauk cemetary at 4 pm.

Her husband Victor Solomon was an eminent cardiologist also with the Government General Hospital which is attached to MMC.
