Uncertainty prevails over the proposed action against jailed interim general secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK-Amma) V.K. Sasikala at the next week’s meeting of the general council of the unified AIADMK (Amma, PTA).

An indication to this effect was given by Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar on Tuesday while answering a question on Sasikala’s proposed expulsion from the party. He said it would not be proper to comment on the issue at the present juncture.

At a brief interaction with the media after an event to mark the merger of the AIADMK (Amma) and the AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) a few weeks ago, R. Vaithilingam, organising secretary, had said a resolution would be adopted at the general council against Sasikala. However, since then there has been no open discussion about it.

A member of the erstwhile AIADMK (PTA), known for his strong opposition to Sasikala and her family, did not want to say anything but endorsed Mr. Jayakumar’s statement that it would not be appropriate to comment on it now.

Ministers lose party posts

Meanwhile, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK-Amma)’s sidelined deputy general secretary on Tuesday announced action against two more Ministers – Udumalai K. Radhakrishnan and K.C. Karuppanan.

Mr. Radhakrishnan was eased out of the post of party district secretary for Tirupur (suburban) unit and C. Shanmugavelu, former Minister, had been appointed in his place. Likewise, Mr. Karuppanan was replaced as district secretary for Erode (suburban) by S.R. Selvam, former chairperson of the district panchayat. Erode (West) legislator and another former Minister K.V. Ramalingam, considered a supporter of Mr. Dhinakaran, had been sacked as Erode (Urban) district secretary.
