The Makkal Nala Koottiyakkam (Peoples’ Welfare Front), floated jointly by Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, CPI, CPI (M) and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi will be officially declared as a political alliance on October 5 at Tiruvarur, said MDMK general secretary Vaiko, said.

Talking to reporters at the Anna Memorial House here on Saturday, Mr Vaiko said People’s Welfare Front (PWF) would project itself as a viable alternative to the corrupt and family-influenced political parties in the State. It would seek the support of 65 percent of voters, who have not owed their allegiance to any political party, he said.

Expressing confidence that with their support the PWF would capture power and form a coalition government in Tamil Nadu in 2016, Vaiko said the question of who would be heading the government as the Chief Minister would be decided at that moment.

Further, the `Marumalarchi Payanam’ (Renaissance Campaign) launched by the MDMK from Kancheepuram on October 3, the day on which a conspiracy was hatched to expel him from Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in the past, would also act as the platform for the election campaign of the proposed political alliance of the MNK, he added
