Two peacocks and two peahens were found dead under mysterious circumstances near Kariyapatti in Virudhunagar district on Saturday.

Officials of the Forest Department also found three other birds lying unconscious in the vicinity. Veterinary doctors who gave first-aid to those birds were closely monitoring their health.

The birds were first noticed by local people, who informed the forest officials on Friday night.  A People for Animals activist, Murugan, said that he saw the highly decomposed carcass of seven birds, but the forest officials could see only four of them.
