Pass percentage drops in Plus Two exams in Namakkal district

The overall pass percentage in Plus Two examinations in the district has dropped from 96.6 in 2014 to 95.75 in 2015. Also, the overall performance of the district in the examination has fallen from the second to the fourth place in the State.

Of the total 31,010 students of 187 schools who appeared for the examinations held in March 2015, 29,702 cleared the exams.

The pass percentage of government schools has dropped from 92.92 in 2014 to 90.40 in 2015. Last year, 42 schools bagged centum results while the number was increased to 49 schools in the current year. Also, 12 government schools bagged centum results last year that has also improved to 15 schools in 2015.

Total centum in each subject in the district include Physics - 28 students, Chemistry - 326, Biology - 168, and Computer Science - 108. In Mathematics, the total centum has been doubled from 820 in 2014 to 1,728 in 2015.

Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy said that though the district is known for nationwide industrial activities, it is popularly known as ‘educational district’ worldwide.

“Best education is given at school and higher education levels,” he added.

He also said that marks are necessary, but marks alone is not life and asked the students who scored low marks not to worry.
