Overwhelming response to ‘Heels on Wheels’

The inaugural ‘Heels on Wheels’ — an all-women four-wheel treasure hunt — held here in connection with the International Women’s Day celebrations on Sunday evoked overwhelming response.

A total of 27 teams participated in the event organised by The Hindu and The Indian Public School in association with The Hindu – Tamil Pen Indru.

The event was flagged off from the Thiagarajar Polytechnic College by C. Shivkumar, Managing Director, The Indian Public School. The participants had to clear three stages and complete the treasure hunt within two hours.

In the first stage, the participants had to find out answers for ten clues given.

The questions were: The oldest spinning mill in Salem now used for exhibitions (Jawahar Mills), our hero is near multix (Ashok Hero two-wheeler showroom), Reach the oldest mall in Salem (Chamundi), Reach the centre point of Salem towards Britain roads (Bretts Road), Besh.... besh.... rumba nalla irukku (Narasus Coffee), The only round about connecting to the Shevaroyan hill (Hasthampatti), The pride of Salem, even MGR was here (Modern Studio), When monkeys swing and elephants sing. This park is well known for rare species (Kuruvampatti zoo), Rearrange the letter PTS to reach out title sponsor of the event (TIPS).

The second stage was ‘Challenge B’ and the participants have to take selfie with the 25 pictures given in the chart. ‘Challenge C’ was a quiz type. The participants had to answer ten written questions.

P. Vimalan, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry-Salem, Yatin B. Shah, Chair, Young Indians, and R. Sundararajan, Deputy Chairman, SMCH, were the chief guests at the valediction held in the evening. L. N. Vinaya, K. Kohila, Dr. M. Kavitha team won the event. They bagged a cash prize of Rs. 3,000. The team comprising R. Subasini, H. Keerthana, and M. Keerthana finished runner up to pocket Rs. 2,000. The third price of Rs. 1,000 went to Brinda Badri, Pavithra, Divya team.
