The formalities for filing of nominations by former minister K.N. Nehru, who is lodged in Cuddalore Central Prison, for contesting the by-election to the Tiruchi-West Assembly constituency have been completed.

Jail sources said that two lawyers on Wednesday met Mr. Nehru in the cell and obtained signatures from him in relevant forms. Mr. Nehru is also understood to have signed his nomination papers, affidavit on his assets and a letter authorising former deputy chief minister M.K. Stalin to file the papers on his behalf. The party sources said that Mr. Stalin would submit the papers to the designated officer in Tiruchi on Friday.
