An accused who was wanted in connection with three murders at Tenkasi in 2007 was arrested on Friday.

A statement from Superintendent of Police V. Vikraman said three Hindus and as many Muslims were murdered in a clash between the two communities in 2007.

Even as the trial of the case was going on in a special court in Madurai, one of the accused in this case R. Diwan Oli alias Kathiravan went underground after the incident as he fled the country.

Subsequently, a lookout notice was issued to nab Diwan Oli and all airports across the country had been alerted.

Though his passport expired in 2013, he managed to get the new passport through the Indian Embassy in a Gulf country.

Against this backdrop, Diwan Oil landed at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport on Friday and was nabbed during immigration check.
