Music composers and playback singers in various languages will come together in the city to pay tributes to the legendary music composer M.S. Viswanathan, who died recently.
Veteran music director Ilayaraja, who recently paid a musical tribute to the late ‘MSV’, is expected to be the guest of honour at the memorial meeting to be held on Sunday evening.
He will unveil a portrait of the late music director who dominated the south Indian film music scene for many years.

The programme will be organised by the Cine Musicians Union at Union Hall on NSK Salai, Vadapalani, on August 2. Sources in the industry said music composers Harris Jayaraj and Devi Sri Prasad and others will take part in the memorial meeting.
A rendition of compositions of the ‘Mellisai Mannar’, as MSV is popularly known, may be organised.
Besides the union’s president, S.A. Rajkumar, and general secretary A. Dominic Xavier, representatives from the Tamil Film Industry Producer Council and the Film Employees Federation of India will pay tributes to the late composer.

Kattabomman to
roar again
The king of Panchalankurichi, Veerapandiya Kattabomman, is all set to roar again with Jackson Durai, on an upgraded digital 5.1 surround sound format. Veerapandiya Kattabomman , a classic film, will be released soon. A trendsetter and considered a benchmark on dialogue delivery, the film has a scene in which Kattabomman and Jackson, an East India Company representative , light up the screen in what has now become film lore.
Raj Television Network has digitally restored the film with re-recorded background music with ‘digital intermediates’ (DI) and conversion of the 35-mm film to digital scope. The trailer of the historic movie was released in March, creating a buzz among Sivaji fans and film buffs alike.
Gemini Ganesan, Padmini, S. Varalakshmi, V.K. Ramaswamy and other senior artistes are in the cast of the film, produced by Padmini Pictures.
Music was scored by G. Ramanathan and directed by B.R. Panthulu. The screenplay was written by Ma. Po. Sivagnanam, while story and dialogue were scripted by Sakthi T.K. Krishnasamy.
DI restoration and cinemascope were done by Raj TV. Raj TV owns the rights of many old Tamil classics like Aayirathil Oruvan , Karnan , Pasamalar and Ninaithaaley Inikkum which were restored and received well by fans with record box-office collections on their release in their new avatar.
