More post offices in Vellore postal division are being brought under the Core Banking Solutions (CBS) network. CBS enables a customer to operate her account and avail banking services from any post office on the CBS network anywhere in the country.
CBS was first rolled out at the Vellore Head Post Office (HPO) in October last year, and expanded to sub post offices in a phased manner. Of the total 47 sub-post offices in Vellore division, 27 have migrated to CBS so far. This includes the sub-post offices of Kaspa, Sathuvachari, Gandhi Nagar, Katpadi north and Christian Medical College.

This month, 15 more post offices will be networked with CBS. “Five sub-post offices were networked today and will migrate to CBS. These are the sub-post offices at Guruvarajapalayam, Salavanpet, Abdullapuram, Konavattam and Pennathur,” said an official of the Vellore postal division.Five other sub-post offices will come under CBS on August 28, and five more on August 31, he added.
The official said CBS facilitates postal savings account holders of a CBS networked post office to carry out all transactions such as deposits and withdrawals at any other post office in the CBS network across the country. All savings bank and savings certificates services will be available, he said.
In Vellore division, there are a total of 3,25,998 account holders in all schemes, he added.
