More meters by July: TANGEDCO

July 06, 2012 04:18 am | Updated 04:18 am IST - Chennai:

The scarcity of meters will get resolved and adequate number of meters will be available for effective service by July-end.

Following reports about scarcity of meters, the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) said the scarcity of meters in the past, particularly single phase, arose due to the fact that a tender for procurement of six lakh meters could not be finalised for non-fulfilment of technical requirements.

In a release, the corporation stated that the stock of the single phase meters was decreasing from January 2012 and after getting instructions from TNERC, six firms had been selected for purchasing meters. Of them, four (Larsen & Toubro, Linkwell Telesystems, Secure Meters and Genus Power Infrastructures) had given offer for inspection and the meters had been made available in their retail outlets.
