Modi must explain his stand on issues confronting TN: Mutharasan

May 04, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - ERODE:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi must explain the Central Government’s stand on four main issues confronting Tamil Nadu: GAIL pipeline, medical entrance exam, jallikattu and plight of fishermen, when he visits the State for election campaign, R. Mutharasan, CPI State Secretary, said on Tuesday.

The CPI leader, who was here to campaign for candidates of People's Welfare Front, told reporters that the State BJP leaders will stand exposed if they fail to prevail upon the Prime Minister to spell out his views on the issues.

Farmers in the Western districts, irrespective of party affiliation, were anxious to know the Central Government’s next move after the Supreme Court’s nod to GAIL to proceed with the pipeline project. Likewise, students from Tamil Nadu have been put to severe disadvantage by the Supreme Court's decision to conduct a common entrance exam for admission to medical colleges, Mr. Mutharasan said.

Alleging that the DMK and AIADMK had taken turns to ruin the State in the last five decades. The AIADMK also had a tacit understanding with the BJP, in view of the cases pending against Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and the dependence of the Central Government on the AIADMK in Rajya Sabha.

The fear about emergence of People’s Welfare Front, after the futility in causing frictions within DMDK and MDMK, was what prompted the DMK to unleash violence on PWF coordinator Vaiko at Tiruvarur.

DMK leader Karunanidhi has exposed him by not condemning the attack, Mr. Mutharasan said.

The DMK as well as AIADMK ill-treated honest officials who were good administrators to the extent of making them commit suicide.
