Scores of milk producers resorted to road roko on the Perambalur – Athur highway in protest against non-procurement of milk by Aavin.
Vehicular traffic on the Perambalur – Salem segment was disrupted for some time till officials from the Aavin, revenue and police rushed to the spot and held talks with the agitators. Officials made arrangements immediately for procurement.
According to milk producers, procurement was erratic for the past few days. On Friday, they were waiting for more than three hours from 5.00 a.m. to supply milk. But, non-arrival of the van for procuring milk caused untold hardship to them.

Milk producers of Esanai, Keezhakarai, Rettaimalaisandhu, Govindapuram and Pappangarai said they were supplying about 3,000 litres of milk daily to the Aavin. In the recent weeks, the procurement was erratic. They appealed to Aavin authorities to procure milk without any interruption.
