Man killed as strange object explodes in College

A man was killed as a mysterious object exploded in a private engineering college on Saturday near Natrampalli in Vellore district of TamilNadu.

A big bang was heard at around 12.30 am near a water tank located in the open space of the Bharathidasan Engineering College, K.Bandarappalli village near Natrampalli. College driver Kamaraj who went near the tank to drink water was severely injured and taken to Vaniyambadi Government Hospital where he was declared dead. Three more persons sustained minor injuries.

Impact of blast

Window panes and wind screens of buses and the tank were broken in the impact of the blast.

A crater was formed at the site of blast. There is a theory that the object that exploded, actually fell from the sky.

It is said that a similar incident took place couple of weeks ago near Alangayam.

Superintendent of Police Senthilkumari rushed to the spot. The bomb squad was trying to identify the type of the material that exploded.
