Man gets triple life term for raping minor daughter

The Mahila Court here on Wednesday sentenced a 48-year-old man to undergo three life term on the charge of raping his minor daughter. According to Krishnaveni Thamaraiselvan, Public Prosecutor, S. Kamaraj, 48, of Melavilankulam near Arasangudi raped his 14-year-old daughter when she was alone in the house in 2013. He had repeated the offence several times and threatened to kill her if she revealed the matter to others.

The issue came to light when the minor’s mother Palaniammal, found that her daughter was pregnant. She subsequently gave birth to a girl child in a hospital in Dindigul. The Tiruverumbur All Women Police filed a case based on the complaint lodged by Palaniammal.

Jacintha Martin, District Judge, Mahila Court, who found Kamaraj guilty, awarded three life term to him under three sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act. In addition to it, the Judge sentenced the accused to undergo one year Rigorous Imprisonment under Section 506 (1) of IPC. She ordered the convict to undergo the sentences consecutively.
