Man gets 10-year RI

Tuticorin Fast Track Mahila Court Judge J. Flora on Tuesday sentenced P. Murugaperumal (29) of Subramaniapuram, who was accused of raping a girl, to undergo 10-year rigorous imprisonment. According to the prosecution, Murugaperumal was found guilty of raping a 20-year-old girl after promising to marry the girl, who is fatherless and her mother a mentally challenged, in 2010. Thattarmadam police filed a case. The DNA test also proved that Murugaperumal was the biological father of a male child, which the girl delivered. A fine of Rs.5,000 was also imposed on him.
