A few thousand ‘T' shirts with the images of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and caps carrying the DMK's ‘Rising Sun' symbol were seized here on Tuesday night. When the police were conducting vehicle check at the Tirunelveli junction, a lorry going towards Kailaasapuram was intercepted. The police found over 20,000 ‘T' shirts, as many caps and 1,200 banners in bundles. The consignment was seized. Further investigations are on.
A similar consignment was seized at Third Mile in Tuticorin by Sub-Collector Sajjan Singh Chavan and Flying Squad tahsildar R. Kumar when they intercepted a lorry on Tuesday night. Over 30,000 ‘T' shirts and 24,000 caps and 1,200 banners were seized.
“During interrogation, driver G. Munvardeen (31) of Tambaram and R. Dhinakaran (42) from the same area told the police that they took the consignment at Chennai after getting a letter, signed by Padmanabhan, manager of ‘Anna Arivaalayam', the DMK headquarters. The ‘T' shirts, caps and the banners are meant for Tuticorin and Kanyakumari districts, according to the letter,” said official sources.

The letter has also been confiscated from the driver.
