LPG cylinders seized

The domestic gas cylinders seized in Namakkal town on Friday.

The Civil Supplies Department officials on Friday seized 51 LPG domestic cylinders, misused for commercial purpose, from different parts of Namakkal town.

On receipt of complaints that domestic LPG cylinders were being illegally used for commercial purpose, the District Collector V. Dakshinamoorthy directed the civil supplies officials to conduct surprise check.

A team led by Rathinam, taluk supply officer, and comprising officials of the Bharath Petroleum Corporation and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation limited raided a private canteen godown in front of the Namakkal South Government Boys Higher Secondary School in the town and seized 30 domestic LPG cylinders.

The official team seized equipments used for transferring the LPG from the domestic cylinders to commercial cylinders.

The team raided some hotels and tea stalls in other areas too and seized 21 more domestic LPG cylinders.

Mr. Rathinam said transferring of gas from the domestic cylinders to commercial cylinders was very dangerous.

He warned the people indulging in such illegal activities with stringent action.
