A leopard was trapped at Kodanad near Kotagiri on Saturday.

According to Assistant Conservator of Forests in-charge, The Nilgiris North, Pushpakaran, it was a male aged about 4 to 6 years. It had moved into one of the cages placed near a habitation above the Kodanad View Point. The cages had been kept in the area by the department following complaints that a carnivore had killed three goats. The animal was sedated by forest veterinarian N.S. Manoharan and released at Avalanche near here.

It was a suitable place to relocate leopards. The number of leopards trapped in Kodanad over the last few months has gone up to three.
